all forms of suppression are malignant. People parade in the streets, holding hands and wearing bright colors because of it. People declare jihads and strap bombs to their chests because of it. People become child molesters because of it.

Of course one might argue that one should suppress sexuality and violent thoughts towards another due to the fact that we live in a society that would condemn such manifestations of mentioned impulses. I say one should not SUPPRESS sexuality and violent thoughts, because these impulses build up within like how a river would build into a reservoir against a dam, and when that dam comes crashing down, the stored energy of that reservoir would come down as a torrent with the destructive energy of millions of rivers.

Instead of suppression, it would be better to subliminate these impulses into more beneficial causes. Meaning to redirect the energies behind these impulses into more creative purposes. Such as art. Because any form of suppression is an attack on one's ability to express themselves. Humans were designed to express themselves on a multitude of different levels, whether it'd be expressing their identity, their tastes, emotions, ideas, religion, nationality, ect. ect. ect.

Suppression too is a form of expression nonetheless (all actions preformed by humans are an expression irregardless of the purpose what they're meant to achieve). That expression is the expression of fear. When a politician is the target of smear tactics, in his FEAR he attempts to disperse the rumors. When a minority's power is threatened, in their FEAR they suppress the majority. When a majority is threatened by a minority, in their FEAR they would cut off the minority from the rest of the population like a gangrenous limb that needs amputating.

The worst type of suppression is self-suppression, because a person is afraid of themselves. They could be afraid to express their sexuality or their creativity. They could be afraid of speaking out an injustice that needs of rectifying. Therefore in turn they seek to suppress others. That is why homophobic people seek to suppress homosexuals, because of an inward fear that they might be gay themselves, or to say it more broadly, how some people seek to suppress people that can express what they are afraid to express themselves.

Why is this? There are many factors contributing to these causes: bad experiences, suppressive parents, the media, people who claim to "look after you", the culture ect. But what these factors have in common is SOMEONE telling YOU that form of expression is WRONG, and that if you express yourself in that manner, YOU shall be SHUNNED. But these are merely factors. The real reason why people suppress themselves is this one truth.

They have no love for themselves. They live their lives based upon the validation of others because they can't validate themselves, and because of that they're afraid of losing approval, because they can't approve of themselves. When a person learns to love himself, they no longer need this vampiric cycle of validation, they begin to trust in their own judgements, they begin to live by their own values instead of the values of others. They are then free to express themselves with no guilt because their integrity no longer comes from the approval of other self-suppressing people, but from yourself.
